a very pleasant backdrop for walks and visiting points

Heritage Trail provides an excellent insight into the
extent of Bedale's colourful past. The trail guides you
around a pleasant walk visiting points of interest on
the way - the Leech House and Bedale's very own 'Harbour'

The Ice House
Bedale Hall Park, Bedale, North Yorkshire.
To the South west corner,
in the grounds of Bedale Hall, the Ice House is typical
of many used by large houses at a time long before
fridges and freezers were used. Currently the Ice
House is only open to the public on one day each year.

The Leech House
Aiskew, Bedale
A unique little building along the Aiskew
side of Bedale Beck, and listed Grade II by English
Heritage. The Leech House was used by the local Apothecary
for storing leeches as part of 18th century medical
practice. The building and garden have recently been
restored by Bedale Heritage Trust. More
