BEDALE CAR BOOT SALE

Bedale Car Boot Sale Stakeholder Meeting

At its meeting on the 12th November the Bedale Town Council agreed to hold a stakeholder meeting to provide an opportunity for discussion around the overall organisation of car boot sales.

Over a number of years car boot sales have taken place each Saturday in Bedale Park throughout the spring and summer for a period of approximately 28 weeks.  The Town Council realises income from the sales through the letting of the park to various organisations that are wholly responsible for the organisation of the event.  With this in mind each organisation is provided with a set of previously agreed conditions to which they must comply.  A link to the current conditions is provided below.

The Town Council is aware of a number of points of view with regard to:

  • Traffic flow and congestion
  • Commercial or pseudo commercial traders operating
  • Sale of refreshments
  • Overall control of each event
  • Impact on Bedale traders
  • Fairness of existing charging structure
  • Frequency of event or discontinuation
  • Introduction of charge for car parking

The Town Council has therefore decided to host this stakeholder meeting to be held in Bedale Hall on Monday, 7th January at 7:00pm.

A link to a copy of the draft agenda is provided below.

Proposed Agenda - 7th January 2008

Conditions - Rules and regulations for hirers and car booters
